I always try and take a few pictures of the sky when I'm in the desert. The unobstructed skyline, and relative lack of light pollution are too inviting to pass up. Also just hanging out in the dark in the desert alone is a strange experience. This particular photo was taken without a tripod, in the Sheephole Valley Wilderness, using a hoodie to 'stabilize' the camera on the top of my car. The light in the foreground is from the headlights of a passing car. The universe is right there, look up!
